Frequently asked questions

When did BEAT start?

We started BEAT in 2012 and over 700 kids have participated in our ensembles through the years!

Where do you rehearse?

Windfall has been the home of BEAT since its inception and continues to be a wonderful collaborator and supporter of our program. Fairview Elementary has become our second home, which has been a beautiful addition to our weekly rehearsals. Partnering with organizations that support and house the arts in our community is one of our primary missions.

When and where do you perform?

We have performed in a variety of local venues throughout the Bloomington community including the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, the John Waldron Arts Center, and the IU Auditorium.

BEAT puts on two showcases: one in the fall and one in the spring, and a Holiday Show. This allows local supporters and families to see the hard work the kids put in close to home. We also have the opportunity to perform in myriad venues outside Bloomington and appreciate all our chances to perform in and for the community!

Does BEAT offer programming over the summer?

Numerous BEAT members go to the Showchoir Camps of America (SCA) Summer Camp, a life-changing performing arts camp, each summer. Please visit www.showchoircamps.com for more information about the camp.
